Stirrings : God’s Heart

Thankfulness is important to God’s heart.  I think this is because He truly knows how much we have to be thankful for.  His eyes continually sweep the earth and see the pain, suffering, and hopelessness of so many.   So when we grumble about trivial things, and forget to see the big picture I think He maybe gets…mad, sad?
I can relate a little.  One of the things that irks me most as a mom is when my kids are ungrateful, seemingly oblivious to the comfort and provision surrounding them.  It is during those times that I go into a 15 minute lecture listing all the stuffed animals, technology items, 15+ shirts per closet, comfortable home, cars and loving parents to drive them around to endless activities, etc. that they should be appreciative of(with a pointed finger mind you!)….great parenting, I know. 🙂

So, I think our ungratefulness possibly makes God sad or even mad.  Yet in His infinite wisdom and grace he doesn’t lecture or point fingers.  He provides soothing, gently urging words to move us toward awareness, grace, gratitude.  Here are some of His words on thankfulness:
Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in all
with an attitude of thanksgiving…     Colossians 4:2
Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders you have done.

The things you planned for us no one can recount to you:
were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many
to declares.     Psalm 40:4-5 NIV

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his
lovingkindness is everlasting.   Psalm 107:1 NIV

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and

supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known
to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus.    Philippians 4:5-7 NKJV
So, as I wrap up the Thanksgiving weekend, I am grateful for a God who cares about me enough to grow me into a woman who is thankful and appreciative(even when I have to learn the hard way), because that is what matters to His heart.
God Bless!

From Santa’s Workshop into our stockings!

This baseball looks so red and shiny it MUST have been made by elves!  This is for all those Red Sox fans across the country with little boys!  I bought it at Dick’s.  It seems like a perfect fit for my boys from Santa!

They don’t have this exact one online at Dick’s.  You have to get it in the stores and probably stores close to Boston.  I found one online at Dick’s, it’s a little different but still shiny and wonderful.  My boys love to play ball!  Santa is busy at work getting ready for the holidays!

and the WINNERS ARE!!

First we want to THANK all of you for your support of us and our new blog!  We are thankful today for you!  We printed the names, and two entries for some who also posted our link on FB and cut them, folded them.  We all tossed and turned the bowl of names.  My daughter drew one name and my son the other, from the bowl way above their head, and the WINNERS ARE!!!!  Jessica (who raced to be our 1st follower!) and Stacey!  We will post our next give away next week so keep a look out!  Congratulations ladies!

Thanks Jessica!  We are Thankful for you!
Thank you Stacey!  We are Thankful for you too!

Sharing The Good Stuff : A Heart of Thankfulness

A Heart of Thankfulness

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. — 1 Thessalonians 5:18
A five-year-old girl was asked to say the blessing at Thanksgiving dinner. She began by thanking God for all her friends, naming them one by one. Then she thanked God for Mommy, Daddy, Brother, Sister, Grandma, Grandpa, and all her aunts and uncles. Finally, she gave thanks for the turkey, the dressing, the fruit salad, the cranberry sauce, the pies, the cakes. Then she paused. After a long silence, the young girl looked up at her mother and asked, “If I thank God for the broccoli, won’t he know I’m lying?”
Have you ever felt that way? We know we’re supposed to cultivate a heart of thankfulness. But let’s be honest: there’s a bunch of broccoli in our lives that is really hard to give thanks for.
Amazingly enough, by cultivating thankfulness for God’s work in me as I try to glean the lessons of loss, I’ve even come to be thankful for the trials I’ve experienced. I know that through them God has made me into the person I am today, a new and hopefully improved version, full of much more grace and love.
Being thankful for everything—intentionally nurturing a heart of gratitude—is a way to bolster your faith on a daily basis. And (broccoli notwithstanding) I guarantee it will keep you in a better mood.

Bible Bites : Peaceful Morning

Good Morning!  Here is a little mini Bible study if you are interested.  I have been laying in my cozy bed relaxing and reading this morning.  I am so thankful for rest!  It helped me set my focus this morning.  I feel a bit more peaceful and encouraged.  I hope you do to.

FIRST Read John 11:1-45
Here is a link to the passage.
(I like to read in many versions, but I find the Message (a translation with modern words) easier to read, especially on line.)

1. Why did Christ wait to go to his sick friend Lazarus?
look at the reasons in
verse 4
verse 11
verse 15
verse 40
verse 45

2. Write down verse 40 (you don’t have to, but I did, I love it!)

3. What name did Christ reveal of himself in verse 25? (I thought, wow, really bold.)

That’s it!!!  I hope you have a peaceful day!
I have to say that I know people with all different beliefs read this blog.  Where ever you are you are welcome.  If you are not interested skip it.  If you are but you are not sure you buy it.  That’s cool.  If you read it and believe it.  Cool too.  Love you friends, all in your unique journeys!

ONE MORE DAY UNTIL THE DRAWING FOR THE GIVE AWAY!!!  Don’t forget to “Join the Fun” and follow the blog so you will be entered to win.  We will announce the winner tomorrow morning!!  YEA!!
