Photographer’s reference #GLO_0018 – George Mlango, 11, (KEN 173101-3269) is a sponsored child who lives in Ndome, Kenya, a small community in the World Vision Canada-funded Voi ADP. George and his six siblings lost both parents to AIDS; their father in 1995; their mother in 2001. A year later, their younger sister, Mary, a sponsored child, died at age 9 from AIDS, which she contracted at birth from her mother. George and his siblings struggle to survive on the US$15 a month she earns as a cleaner/assistant at the local health center. George receives some school supplies from World Vision. World Vision has assisted his school, which has 350 sponsored children, and renovated the health clinic where Gloria works. Entire file available in Canada office.
